Brass Manufacturing & Casting Guide
Understanding Moradabad foundry techniques: Sand Casting, Pressure Die Casting, Sheet Metal Spinning, Hand Chasing, and Electroplating.
1. Sand Casting (Foundry Gravity Mold)
Molten virgin brass at 950°C is poured into compacted silica sand and bentonite molds. Ideal for thick-walled candelabras, heavy statue idols, temple bells, and solid hardware with authentic textured gravity surfaces.
2. Sheet Metal Spinning (Hand & CNC)
High-gauge flat brass circular blanks (0.8mm to 2.0mm) are rotated on high-speed wooden or steel lathe chucks and formed seamlessly. Perfect for bowls, ice buckets, cocktail shakers, pendant domes, and dinner plates.
3. Hand Etching & Fretwork (Kalamkari)
Artisans hand-chase intricate geometric and botanical motifs using hardened steel chisels and punches. Pierced cutwork creates mesmerizing ambient light scatter in Moroccan lanterns and incense burners.
4. High-Luster Buffing & Oven Lacquering
Five-stage polishing using sisal wheels and jewelers rouge compounds, followed by electrostatic clear lacquer application baked at 160°C to ensure 5+ years of tarnish resistance under normal indoor conditions.
