Wholesale Brass Buying & Quality Control Guide
Tolerances, chemical composition testing, packaging standards, and sample sign-off checklists for professional buyers.
1. Chemical Alloy Composition Verification
Standard commercial brass for decorative items comprises 60-65% Copper (Cu) and 35-40% Zinc (Zn). Higher copper content yields richer golden tones and superior malleability. For food-contact items (dinner thalis, cocktail barware), verify food-grade tin lining (Kalai) or non-toxic certified lacquers.
2. Dimensional & Weight Inspection Tolerances
Because sand casting involves manual molding, standard commercial weight variance is +/- 4% to 6% per piece. High-precision die cast items maintain tolerances within +/- 0.05mm.
3. Drop-Test & Export Packaging Standards
Brass items are heavy and susceptible to transit scuffing. Ensure master cartons comply with 5-ply double wall corrugated board (150 GSM Kraft) with individual polyethylene sleeves, bubble wraps, and silica gel desiccants to prevent sea-freight oxidation.
